The electrification, intelligentization, and greening of the automotive industry have become a global consensus. Major automotive markets are accelerating their transformation through policy guidance and corporate collaboration, with cross-border cooperation emerging as the central theme of the next phase of industry development. Southeast Asia serves as a key hub for international cooperation in China’s automotive sector, and domestic automakers are accelerating their regional expansion by establishing localized KD (knock-down) factories and cultivating component ecosystems.
Among these, Thailand—as Southeast Asia’s largest automotive manufacturing market and third-largest automotive consumer market—boasts the region’s most mature automotive supply chain system. As the transition to electrification accelerates, Chinese automakers and parts suppliers are entering a critical period of development opportunities. In 2025, Thailand’s automobile sales reached 621,000 units, with electric vehicles (including HEVs) accounting for 277,000 units—a share that rose to 45%. Electrification has become the core driver of growth in Thailand’s automotive market.
Against this backdrop, how to accurately gauge Thailand’s policy direction, deeply adapt to local requirements, and seize opportunities in the shift toward electric and intelligent vehicles has become a focal point of widespread corporate attention.
On December 19, 2025, China EV100 signed a Memorandum of Understanding with BOI of Thailand to establish a cooperative platform and jointly promote the development of the EV industry in both countries.
Building on this partnership, China EV100, in collaboration with BOI of Thailand and GREEM,will co-host the inaugural Global Future Mobility Conference (Thailand) (GFM2026)! The conference is scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from May 13–15, 2026. With the core theme of “Embracing Green and Smart Mobility,” it aims to establish an efficient platform for collaboration between the Chinese and Thai EV industries and to support Thailand’s automotive sector in its transition toward electric and intelligent mobility. The forum will provide practical support to enterprises, including authoritative policy interpretations, analyses of localization strategies, and access to key partnership resources, helping them better seize market opportunities in Thailand and secure a leading position in the development of electric and intelligent mobility.
The conference plans to invite key policymakers from the Chinese and Thai EV industries, as well as core stakeholders from Thailand and around the world—including industry leaders such as BYD, Changan, SAIC, Gotion High-Tech, Great Wall, Chery, Aion, Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT), VinFast, Tesla, and WHA Industrial Park—to discuss industry transformation trends and jointly chart a grand blueprint for future mobility.
PART.01 1 Main Forum | Embracing Green and Smart Mobility
Agenda
BACKGROUND
As the core component of the forum, the Main Forum (High-Level Forum) will be held in two sessions on May 13, addressing cutting-edge industry topics.
High-Level Forum // First Session
The first session will focus on Global Automotive Strategies in the New Era, exploring cooperation mechanisms and development pathways for the global automotive industry amid trade barriers, and analyzing new opportunities for Sino-Thai automotive industry collaboration.
High-Level Forum // Afternoon Session
The afternoon session will focus on Technological Innovation and Supply Chain Collaboration, providing an in-depth analysis of key measures for coordinated industrial chain upgrades amid the waves of electrification and intelligentization, helping enterprises achieve technological breakthroughs and supply chain optimization.
PART.02 3 High-Level Dialogues | Addressing Industry Hotspots and Challenges
Dialogues Focusing on Cutting-Edge Issues
GFM2026 will host three high-level closed-door sessions concurrently on the morning of May 14, inviting government officials, leaders of international organizations, corporate decision-makers, and experts to engage in in-depth discussions on the industry’s key challenges and emerging trends.
Track 1 Focuses on Thailand’s Automotive Industry Chain Localization and Transformation Models, drawing on the practical experience of Chinese automakers in Thailand to explore how to achieve the transition from “product export” to “standard export”;
Track 2 Centers on Thailand’s Intelligent Automotive Industry Chain Development Pathways, discussing the deep integration of AI, autonomous driving, and the automotive industry to help Thailand build an intelligent industrial ecosystem;
Track 3 Focuses on New Transportation Energy Infrastructure: Planning, Standards, and Models, aligning with the development needs of Thailand’s new energy vehicle industry to explore feasible solutions for the coordinated development of infrastructure and the automotive sector.
PART.03 Targeted Government-Enterprise Matchmaking | Special Briefing Session for Companies Heading to Thailand
On the afternoon of May 14, a special government-enterprise briefing session for automotive companies heading to Thailand was launched simultaneously. This session specifically established an efficient bridge between enterprises entering Thailand and key Thai government departments (BOI). Professional representatives from Thailand’s policy-making sector were invited to attend, helping enterprises accurately interpret the latest investment and implementation policies in Thailand’s automotive industry, deeply analyze the pain points and challenges of enterprise development in Thailand, provide targeted solutions, effectively resolve bottlenecks in project implementation, and promote the efficient launch and steady development of cooperative projects in Thailand.
PART.04 2 Site Visits | Multi-dimensional Insights into Industry Trends
On May 15, visit frontline factories to witness firsthand the practical achievements of Chinese automakers’ operations in Thailand:
Route A: Visit Chinese-owned vehicle manufacturers in Rayong (tentatively BYD and Changan). Known as the “Detroit of the East,” Rayong has become a key hub for Chinese automakers expanding overseas. Factories established here by companies such as BYD and Changan are already in operation, with a cumulative planned production capacity exceeding 500,000 vehicles. This tour will take participants directly to the factory floor to understand Chinese automakers’ production layouts, technology applications, and localized supply chain development in Thailand. Participants will learn from the overseas expansion experiences of leading companies and attend exchange seminars tailored to their specific business needs.
Route B: Visit the SAIC-Charoen Pokphand factory (Chonburi). As a joint venture between SAIC and Thailand’s Charoen Pokphand Group, this factory covers an area of approximately 700,000 square meters and serves as the core production base for the MG brand in Southeast Asia. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of SAIC-Charoen Pokphand’s development history and current status, tour the final assembly workshop, E2/E3 battery plant, and Yanfeng seat production line, and discuss the localization operational experiences of Sino-Thai joint ventures through a roundtable discussion.
