On March 23, Zhang Yongwei, Chairman of China EV100 met with Vincent Roche, Chairman and Global CEO of ADI, and his delegation in Beijing. The delegation includes Stephanie Sidelko, Chief of Staff, Fan Jianren, President of ADI Asia Pacific, Xu Zhibin Managing Director of ADI Asia Pacific, and Chen Sheng, Sales Director of China Automotive Business. The two sides held in-depth talks on key topics such as the electrification and intelligent transformation of the automotive industry, low-altitude economy, AI and the chip industry.

Zhang Yongwei stated that China’s automotive electrification transformation has entered a deep phase in the industry’s core technology field. Enterprises’ top focus in core technologies is the breakthrough of battery technology, especially the mass production and application of solid-state batteries, which is also a key driver for the upgrading of the electrification industry. The application of L3 and L4 autonomous driving technologies have become the industry’s core focus, and the future will center on the in-depth integration of AI technology and autonomous driving.

Regarding the emerging low-altitude economy, Zhang noted that it has been written into the Report on the Work of the Government for two consecutive years and included in the 15th Five-Year Plan proposals. At present, the scale of equipment-side sectors such as civil UAVs and eVTOL is growing steadily, with their application scenarios expanding continuously.

The two sides also exchanged views on the development trend of the AI industry. Zhang analyzed that China’s consistent layout in clean energy sectors including photovoltaic and hydropower has provided a solid guarantee for the safe and stable national power supply. Meanwhile, the large-scale construction and application of smart power grids have further improved the operational efficiency and dispatching capacity of the power system, offering sufficient power support for the development of the AI industry.

Zhang spoke highly of ADI’s development in China. He noted that as a foreign-invested chip enterprise, ADI has built a sound and high-quality service system for the automotive industry, deeply participated in the electrification and intelligent transformation of China’s automotive industry, and won extensive industry recognition. He suggested that ADI further deepen its layout in the Chinese market, locate some R&D and manufacturing business in China, and integrate more deeply into China’s automotive industry ecosystem through building joint laboratories.

As a high-level communication event between the China EV100 and multinational enterprise headquarters, this exchange helps senior executives of multinational enterprise headquarters gain a deeper understanding of the development of China’s automotive industry and related fields. It also lays a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation to jointly advance the electrification and intelligent transformation of the automotive industry, as well as the innovative development of the science, technology and energy sectors in the follow-up.
