As Chinese automakers accelerate global expansion and overseas investment, localized development has become a priority. To better understand their operations in Thailand and identify policies supporting overseas growth, on December 19, Zhang Yongwei, Chairman of China EV100 and Executive Chairman of GREEM, led a delegation to meet separately with representatives from BYD Thailand and Changan Southeast Asia Headquarters in Bangkok.

Discussions focused on companies’ production allocation and positioning in Thailand, localized supply chain development, challenges in market integration, and policy recommendations for advancing China-Thailand NEV industry cooperation. Companies that established in Thailand advance local production and supply chains, enhance support capabilities through diverse models, and hire local talent to achieve operational localization. In product strategy, they leverage Thailand’s geographic advantages to balance domestic demand with regional market outreach, building regional manufacturing and sales hubs.

The meeting explored practical ways to support Chinese enterprises in Thailand, including strengthening China-Thailand policy coordination, ensuring policy implementation, promoting industry standard mutual recognition, and pursuing innovative cooperation models.
Going forward, China EV100 and GREEM will partner with Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI) to launch a China-Thailand NEV cooperation platform. It will enhance policy alignment, organize industry exchanges and seminars, and promote industrial collaboration and talent development—supporting Thailand’s automotive transformation and Chinese automakers’ development in Thailand.
