The founding ceremony of the Global Renewable Energy & Electric Mobility (GREEM) and the inaugural Global New Energy Vehicle (GNEV) Cooperation and Development Forum were held in Singapore on June 27, 2024. The event brought together hundreds of participants, including government officials from ASEAN countries and China, representatives of international organizations and industrial institutions, leading scholars, experts, and representatives from across the automotive value chain. Under the theme of “Promoting Development and Win-Win Cooperation in Global New Energy Vehicles”, the forum explored pathways to accelerate the automotive industry’s transition toward green, low-carbon and intelligent development, while fostering an open and international cooperation system.

At GREEM founding ceremony on June 27, participants focused on opportunities and pathways for industrial collaboration. Experts and scholars engaged in in-depth discussions on global green and low-carbon trends in the auto industry, industrial policy shifts and market dynamics, joint efforts to improve internationally recognized standards and regulatory frameworks, challenges countries face in meeting green transition goals, and practical approaches to advancing cooperative development in this sector.

The high-level forum on June 28 focused further on sustainable development and cross-border cooperation in the global automotive sector. Delegates delved into the trends of electrification and intelligent transformation in the industry, explored new models of cooperation in the industrial chain, supply chain and technological collaboration and efforts to create an open, collaborative, and win-win environment for exchange. It also covered topics such as advancing the coordinated development of the automotive, transportation and energy sectors and developing a global governance system for the industry, enhancing the application of intelligent technologies, deepening relevant international cooperation, and exploring paths and models for the industry’s global development—all of which were also addressed in detail during the forum.

Participants agreed that the forum, particularly the establishment of GREEM, will facilitate concerted action among nations, spur innovation in the GNEV industry and accelerate the sector’s green, low-carbon and intelligent transition.
