At present, China's automotive industry has made positive progress in overseas expansion in terms of scale, regional distribution, and product portfolio. Entering a new phase of electric and intelligent overseas expansion, China's automotive industry is shifting from traditional product exports to systematic and ecosystem-based globalization. Localized manufacturing, complete vehicle and component production, construction and operation of charging and battery-swapping infrastructure, cultivation of intelligent software and hardware application ecosystems, and localized R&D adaptation have become key areas of focus. At the same time, in the face of increasingly complex industrial policies, localization requirements, tariffs and non-tariff barriers, compliance systems, and potential risks in various overseas regions and countries, how to comprehensively consider various factors, fully connect with government, enterprise, and institutional resources in different countries, and support enterprises in formulating overseas expansion strategies and pathways has become the key to overcoming globalization challenges.
To build a resource matching platform for domestic OEMs and component companies to connect with overseas governments, enterprises, and associations, and to help enterprises efficiently enter overseas markets, China EV100, in collaboration with the Shanghai Tsinghua International Innovation Center, plans to hold the "China Automotive Industry Overseas Expansion Strategy and Pathways Symposium" on July 7-8, 2026. The symposium will invite domestic and international governments, industry organizations, experts, and corporate representatives to participate, focusing on differentiated strategies and implementation pathways for China's automotive industry's overseas expansion into key regions such as Europe, Southeast Asia, and Africa, as well as new situations, challenges, models, and pathways for the overseas expansion of the intelligent automotive industry chain. The event aims to create a comprehensive activity service platform that integrates "overseas expansion issue discussion + special policy interpretation + international cooperation resource connection" to support the high-quality overseas development of enterprises.
This symposium will not only feature in-depth industry discussions but will also simultaneously build an overseas automotive resource connection platform, linking overseas government departments, overseas OEMs and component companies, local distributors, and cross-border financial, tax, and legal institutions for enterprises expanding overseas, providing support for promoting overseas plant construction, supply chain cooperation, and technical collaboration.
I.Symposium Agenda
1.Symposium Morning Session: July 7, 09:00-12:00
Topic 1: China-EU Automotive Industry Cooperation: Current Situation and Pathways. As European carbon emission regulations, localized production requirements, and technical access barriers continue to tighten, this session will interpret policies, layout strategies, and cooperation pathways for OEMs and component companies planning to enter the European market; assess the feasibility of mainstream cooperation models such as joint ventures, contract manufacturing, and localized plant construction in the China-EU automotive industry; and promote technical licensing and collaborative R&D models between Chinese intelligent component companies and European OEMs.
Topic 2: New Models for China-Southeast Asia Electric and Intelligent Industry Chain Cooperation. As multiple Southeast Asian countries accelerate their electrification transitions and introduce policies to attract investment in complete vehicles and core components, this session will interpret the policy directions for BEV/PHEV/REEV in various Southeast Asian countries and localized implementation models for core components; and discuss the development trends and cooperation opportunities for charging and battery-swapping infrastructure and battery recycling policies in Southeast Asia.
Topic 3: China-Africa Electric Vehicle Industry Cooperation: New Opportunities and New Challenges. Africa faces a huge gap in integrated solar-storage-charging infrastructure, and the market potential for replacing fossil fuel vehicles with electric vehicles is vast. This session will explore cooperation resources with African local energy companies and mobility service operators, as well as integrated "solar + energy storage + electric vehicle" overseas expansion and implementation models; and discuss the opportunities, challenges, and response pathways for the application and promotion of electric heavy-duty trucks and electric light commercial vehicles in Africa.
2.Symposium Afternoon Session: July 7, 14:30-17:30
Topic 4: New Situations and Challenges in the Overseas Expansion of the Intelligent Automotive Industry Chain. This session will address the compliance requirements and potential risks for the overseas expansion of the intelligent industry chain, including intelligent driving and intelligent cockpits, into regions such as Europe and Southeast Asia; the impact of current policies and regulations in Europe and Southeast Asia on China's international cooperation in intelligent R&D, production, and investment; and an interpretation of the impact of the "Industrial Accelerator Act" on the export of intelligent technologies and products to Europe.
Topic 5: New Models and New Pathways for International Cooperation in the Intelligent Industry Chain. This session will discuss cooperation models for establishing localized intelligent R&D and manufacturing ecosystems in regions such as Europe and Southeast Asia; how to build a service system for the overseas expansion of intelligent vehicles; successful cases of international cooperation in China's automotive intelligence; and European and Southeast Asian user demands for intelligent vehicle features and directions for product improvement.
