On December 17, 2025, Liu Xiaoshi, Director of GREEM and Vice Chairman of China EV100, led a delegation to visit Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii). He held high-level conversation with MARii CEO Azrul Aziz and his core team, discussing China’s EV industry achievements, Malaysia’s industrial policies, localization strategies, and multi-sector cooperation opportunities, and reaching key consensus on future collaboration.

During the meeting, Liu Xiaoshi outlined China’s leading strengths in the EV industry, including technological innovation, a more integrated industrial chain, and large-scale markets. He highlighted the cross-border cooperation framework established by GREEM and China EV100, covering OEMs, supply chain collaboration, infrastructure development, and policy and standards research, aimed at resource alignment and joint development between Chinese and global automakers.
MARii CEO Azrul Aziz highly praised China’s EV industry achievements and the cross-border cooperation initiative. Based on Malaysia’s industrial development plan, he proposed four cooperation visions:
1. Strengthen collaboration between two countries’ enterprises to accelerate automotive localization, integrate local suppliers into the global high-end supply chain, and jointly expand international markets by leveraging ASEAN’s right-hand drive vehicle advantage.
2. Leverage Malaysia’s strength as a major semiconductor producer to deepen R&D and market cooperation in automotive semiconductors.
3. Draw on China’s mature NEV experience to pilot cooperation in emerging areas including battery swapping, commercialization of L3 autonomous driving (targeted by MARii for 2030), hydrogen-powered transport, and urban air mobility.
4. Establish a regular technical exchange mechanism focused on key technologies such as radar separation, power battery development, and powertrain optimization.
It is reported that MARii will soon launch a Hydrogen Center, which will serve as a key platform for future collaboration.
This meeting established a high-level dialogue platform for China-Malaysia automotive industry cooperation. Going forward, GREEM and China EV100 will build a long-term partnership with MARii. By sharing China’s industrial development experience, creating specialized dialogue mechanisms, and conducting joint research, we will advance cooperation in technological innovation, supply chain synergy, and market expansion, supporting complementary strengths and win-win outcomes between the two countries.
